What we offer?
I bring 25 years of commercial and strategic experience, combined with the relational intelligence to understand how your business really works.
I don’t create activity for activity’s sake. I ensure that brand, customer strategy and marketing decisions are aligned to clear commercial outcomes – from revenue and margin to retention and long-term value.
I focus on the foundations most businesses overlook: understanding who your most valuable customers are, clarifying your brand’s role in the market, and building a disciplined plan that connects strategy to execution.
I also offer two specialist services built on the same thinking: strategic planning for golf clubs, and customer intelligence for D2C and retail businesses.
Why Commercial Alignment Matters
In today’s environment, marketing activity is too easy. But coherence with business goals is surprisingly rare.
Many businesses are busy across marketing channels, but without clear alignment to customer value, margin and strategic priorities. That disconnect leads to wasted spend, confused teams and stalled growth.
I provide the discipline and external perspective to close that gap, helping to bring structure, clarity and commercially accountable decision-making that strengthens both performance and confidence.
I work alongside agencies to ensure their activity is guided by clear commercial priorities and strong strategic briefs.
I provide cohesive, commercially disciplined leadership across brand, customer strategy and marketing — ensuring every element works toward the same objective.
You gain senior-level commercial leadership without the cost or commitment of a full-time executive — including objective decision-making and a clear view of where value is being created or lost.
The same discipline sits behind my specialist work with golf clubs and with D2C and retail businesses, described below.
Services
Commercially Coherent Growth — Delivered Your Way
Fractional Commercial Marketing Leadership
Ongoing senior leadership (2–8 days per month) for businesses that need clarity, discipline and direction.
I become part of your team — aligning customer strategy, brand and marketing investment to clear commercial priorities. I mentor and develop your people, guide agencies, challenge assumptions and ensure activity is accountable to revenue, margin and long-term growth.
You gain experienced commercial leadership without the cost of a full-time executive, creating a stronger, more capable marketing function as a result.
Project-Based Strategic, Commercial and Marketing Support
Focused pieces of work for businesses that need a clear answer or a plan, without an ongoing retainer.
Projects include growth diagnostics to find where growth is being lost, brand creation and positioning (from visual identity through to the strategy behind it), and growth roadmaps that turn priorities into a practical, measurable plan.
Each one is scoped around a specific problem and ends with recommendations you can act on.
Golf Club Strategy & Planning
A specialist service for golf club committees.
Every club faces a different mix of pressures, so there is no one-size-fits-all audit. I work with your committee to identify the issues that matter most to your club, then build practical solutions around them, from attracting and keeping members to governance, course investment, pricing and communication.
I’m independent and from outside the golf industry, so the thinking is shaped by your club’s evidence rather than a standard toolkit.
Customer Intelligence
A specialist service for D2C, ecommerce, travel and retail businesses.
Two things are costing you money: spending too much acquiring customers who don’t stay, and under-investing in the ones who do. Customer intelligence fixes both by showing who your best customers really are, so you can acquire more of them for less and grow the value of the ones you already have.

Chris Perkins
I’ve spent 25 years building commercial strategy across consumer brands — from global names like Wedgwood and Fitness First to Private Equity-backed growth businesses.
For the past seven years, I’ve brought that experience into growing businesses as an independent commercial marketing leader, helping them build clarity, discipline and measurable progress.
That background shaped how I think: commercially disciplined, customer-led and focused on return. I’ve worked in environments where every pound of spend had to justify itself — and I bring that same rigour to businesses that want clarity, not noise.
While many advisers focus primarily on platforms, performance channels and tech stacks, my focus is upstream — ensuring the commercial logic, customer priorities and brand direction are right before optimisation begins.
I’m naturally curious and direct. I ask the uncomfortable questions, challenge assumptions and focus on solving the real problem — not just treating the symptoms. I use AI where it adds speed and depth to analysis, but decisions remain grounded in human judgement, experience and honest conversation.
Clients describe working with me as energising and reassuring — they gain clarity on where they’re going, confidence in the decisions they’re making, and a commercially grounded plan they can actually execute.
My role isn’t to create more activity, but to ensure what you’re already doing makes commercial sense.
